The stunning black barn at Silverbrook Farm was the perfect setting for our concept of a modern, opulent and glamorous take on the rustic barn wedding. We started with a sleek, graphic, black and white palette, punctuated by shots of deep red. Then we added hints of gold throughout, to amp up the sophistication, and make it less like the typical rustic fare. We wanted a deliberate juxtaposition of beautiful, classic details- the black Louis chairs, our handsome black stallion Pico, the rustic farm table and chandeliers, with clean, modern choices, like the airy lucite ghost chairs, graphic black stationery, and even our groom’s super-sleek suit.
A great big Thank You to the ever-chic Elizabeth Anne Designs for featuring this session!
There are plenty of other little things that toe the line between traditional and modern, like the lovely ombre gold silverware, and the bride’s beautiful dress, from Cocoe Voci’s Fall 2013 collection, that’s equal parts conservative, glamorous, and sexy (just look at that back!) Everything was brought together in the most fabulous, lavish way, by the lush florals, which were inspired by the deep oxblood color on our bride’s lips.
Instead of models, we decided to use one of our “real” engaged couple, Natalie and Alex, whose wedding we shot later in the fall. We asked them for the creative reins, and the entire set-up was a big surprise for them, which they loved!
